About

A journal for people who take the long way round.

Unhurried is an independent journal about slow travel, seasonal food, thoughtful design and living well. We publish fewer stories, more carefully, for readers who would rather savour something than skim it.

Our story

Why we slowed down

Unhurried began with a simple suspicion: that the most rewarding parts of life tend to be the slow ones. A long lunch that turns into an afternoon. A train that takes the scenic route. A loaf of bread that needs a whole weekend.

We wanted a place to write about those things properly, without chasing the next headline. So we made one. Every story here is researched, tried and tested, and edited with time to spare. We would rather publish one good story than five quick ones.

Our readers are cooks, travellers, home-makers and the quietly curious. If you have ever lingered over a menu, wandered without a map or rearranged a room just to catch the morning light, you are in the right place.

What we believe

Three ideas we keep coming back to

  • Time is the main ingredient

We give every story the time it needs, from the first idea to the final edit. Nothing here is written to chase a trend.

  • Seasonal by nature

We follow the seasons in what we cook, where we go and what we notice, because the best things arrive in their own time.

  • Useful and honest

Every guide, recipe and recommendation comes from experience. If we have not tried it ourselves, it does not make the page.
